I thought of this article as I "stole" a rose from my neighbor's rose bush about a few weeks ago.... Don't judge me! The rose was leaning over the fence into my yard and it was so beautiful and she was only going to let it die! HEHE--This is how I justify my actions. :)

Don't Eat the Apple!!
It's that time of year again. Get out your rakes and tree trimmers.
As you are aware, the owner of a piece of land has the liberty to use his or her land to grow trees, regardless of the extension of boughs and roots over and into adjoining property. If your neighbor's tree has boughs that extend into your yard, you have the right to cut them back to your boundary line. However, you cannot enter your neighbor's property to do so.
What about leaves? Your neighbor is not responsible for any leaves that fall into your yard - even if they cause damage. Leaves are a natural product and each land owner is responsible for cleaning natural products on his or her yard.
Even though it might be tempting to eat the apples hanging off your neighbor's trees, you shouldn't. The fruit of a tree is the property of the tree's owner, regardless of whether or not it is hanging in your yard.
Good luck with your trees, their boughs, twigs, leaves, fruit and all.
